Learning to Rest

Seven days tracing rest through the Bible, from God resting at creation to Jesus' invitation to the weary. For anyone running on empty who wants to learn that rest is a gift, not a failure.

  1. Reading 1

    The Sixth DayGenesis 1:24–2:3

Before anything else, notice this: when God finished His work, He rested — rest was part of His design from the very first week.

  2. Reading 2

    The Ten CommandmentsExodus 20:1–17

God cared about rest so much that He built it into His commands, telling His people to stop working one day in seven.

  3. Reading 3

The LORD Is My ShepherdPsalm 23:1–6

The Shepherd doesn't drive His sheep to exhaustion — He makes them lie down in green pastures and restores their souls.

  4. Reading 4

    Rest for the WearyMatthew 11:25–30

Here is Jesus' open invitation to you today: come to Me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest.

  5. Reading 5

The Feeding of the Five ThousandMark 6:30–44

When the disciples were worn out from ministry, Jesus' first word to them was to come away to a quiet place and rest awhile.

  6. Reading 6

    The Sabbath RestHebrews 4:1–11

The story isn't over — a deeper Sabbath rest still remains for God's people, and we're invited to enter it.

  7. Reading 7

Children Are a Heritage from the LORDPsalm 127:1–5

End the week with this quiet promise: striving from dawn to dark is not the point, because God gives sleep to those He loves.
